The Ministry of Economy is currently attending the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development, held from 14 July 2025 to 23 July 2025 in New York City, United States. This forum serves as the United Nations’ (UN) main platform for reviewing the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by its member states towards achieving the 2030 Agenda.
The forum began with an opening ceremony officiated by the President of ECOSOC together with the UN Deputy Secretary-General. The key message of the opening remarks focused on the urgent need for member states to enhance cooperation in increasing SDG financing, fostering partnerships with the private sector, and enhancing capabilities in science, technology, and innovation.
In the afternoon, Malaysia shared its national success in addressing health issues during the review and sharing session on progress related to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.
The Malaysian delegation is led by H.E. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faisal Muhamad, Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the UN, while Mr. Asfaazam Kasbani, Director of the National SDG Centre, represents the Ministry of Economy.
